East Kilbride Rotary Club
East Kilbride Rotary Club participated in the world wide "A Day in the Life of a Rotarian".
Now what did we get involved with on the 10th of October 2009!
Hopefully the little picture show will paint a picture for you. Quickly summed up we participated in an enviromental cleanup in Calderglen park planted a tree in an area of ground in the park with a commemorative plaque and in addition we had another group of Rotarians who were collecting for cancer research where we collected over £1800.00 in other words a time well spent in the community. Pictures were provided by Rotarians George McGraw & Edwin Robertson.
Picture 1 shows our team leader Roddy Shanks (THE MAN WITH THR GREEN FINGERS) preparing the site for the planting of our first tree, whilst the rest of the Rotarians look on. Picture 2 sees Club Secretary George Mcgraw who has downed pen & pencil to transport our tree to the planting area with Rotarian Ben Miloudi. Picture 3 Here we must ask how many men does it take to dig a hole as immediate Past President Frank Mcluskey issues instructions on how it should be done!!
Picture 4 sees the final touches to the planting being finished of by Club president Ray Porrelli and Rotarian Ben Miloudi. In Picture 8 we have the next 2 hour shift George McGraw, Brian Wood & Ray Porrelli. Followed in Picture 9 by Brian Wood and the wife of our Vice President Kath Shanks (Roddy was resting at this moment)
In the last picture 10 we have Rotarian Brian Wood insisting that a Rotarians Life is a good one and trying to recruit another member into the Club
