Friday the 8th of July 2011 seen Past President Barclay Wales rise to his feet to present his 4 minute waffle to his fellow Rotarians, suffice to say it was a light hearted side of the surgical procedures that Barclay had underwent during his recent spate of illnesses. It is great having him back amongst us, especially when he is able to present a lighter 4 minute waffle.
On the 15th of July 2011 (other wise known as "The Glesga" Fair Friday), Rotarian President Leslie Irvine welcomed  Rotary District 1230 Governor Roberta Gaitan to the East Kilbride Club at the beginning of the new Rotary Year, to give her message from the Rotary International President, Kalyan Banerjee. Roberta was  indeed complimentary to East Kilbride members for the enthusiastic way they approached their goal of "Service before Self" plus the high standard of the Clubs Website and hoped that this approach would continue into the future.
She was impressed by the fact that the club were on a recruitment drive within the community and was hopeful that this mission would produce an increase in membership, and at the same time, encapsulate Rotary International Presidents wish for all Rotarians to commit themselves absolutely and fully and say, "What I must do shall indeed be done."
As a result of the clubs achievement in the last Rotary Year, Roberta proudly presented Past President Roddy Shanks with Rotary Internationals Presidential Citation awarded to Clubs for their contributions to their community and international achievements.

On the 22nd of July 2011  our new club secretary John McKie was given the opportunity to stand up and give his four minute waffle which he entitled basically his pet hate or dislikes!!
Fortunately for him his fellow Rotarians sat there amazed at how much of John's subject dislikes could be also theirs. John's timing was perfect and he did not go over his four allotted minutes, whilsts covering subjects such as shopping, petrol stations,
Waffler for the 29/07/11 was the one and only Past President, excellent raconteur and retired medical practitioner, Dr. Henry Doig who's four minute waffle turned into a 12 minute story of his life in Stornoway as a child. Henry covered the whole gambit  his school days in Lewis with a sense of fun that kept his fellow Rotarians in stitches (Excuse the Pun)
