East Kilbride Rotary Club
A welcome return of the man from Texas on the 10/06/11. Ambassadorial student Robert Kent made a return visit to our club giving an update of what he had achieved in his time in Scotland. In addition he expressed his desire to achieve something that would help Rotary's Polio Plus campaign and to that end he was planning to sponsored walk from the West coast of Scotland to the East coast starting at Skurdieness lighthouse Montrose to Ardenmuchan point. His planned trek should take him 14 days
Rotarians attending East Kilbride Rotary Club on the 17/06/11 had a very busy programme . Firstly it was the apprentice of the year award something that has been an annual event within the club for many years where the best apprentice from the Engineering training school select their best apprentice for the Rotary Clubs award. This year the winner was Sean Connelly who is employed by National Semi conductors. Sean gave a short resume of his time at the training school and was well received by the members. the highlight of out lunch came from our other two primary school children namely Stephene Doudie and Cerys Jeffrey who were winners of the Clubs annual Burns competition. Both recited to those the poems that made them winners. They were accompanied by their teachers Sandra Kelly from Auchinrath Primary and Deborah Mair from Castlefield Primary
