On the 5th of March 2010 our newest member John McKie whose Membership Classification is Restaurateur gave an excellent lilttle my job talk on the changes of the catering business over the past few years, with some very humourous antidotes on the subject. After Johns contribution to our lunch time meeting the club are in no doubt he will turn out to be a good member
On the 13th March 2010 James McVittie spoke to the club on his involment with the Scottish Education Department with the devlopment & implementation of changes to the Scottish Education system with respect to the curriculum all coming under the title of his talk "Forms of Achievement"
Rotarians in attendance as employers listened intently to what there guest speaker was saying, especially to the changes relative to skills other than sitting examinations and gaining certificates was concerned. Vote of thanks was delivered by the clubs speaker secretary Archie King.
Robin Tatler a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Innerleithen spoke to East Kilbride Rotarians on Football on the 26th of March but Football, that was something quite different from what we know as football and if anyone is looking for a good speaker please contact Robin. The title of his talk was the Homeless World Cup. In a few years has been remarkable what it has achieved.
The Corporate Cup winners will travel to Copacabana Beach, Rio, Brazil, to unite with 64 nations participating in the 8th Rio 2010 Homeless World Cup and become part of the football magic that is transforming communities and lives around the world. Here you will take on the Homeless World Cup ‘All Stars’ in the specially built 5,000-seater street soccer stadium in an exhibition match broadcast live at www.homelessworldcup.org. The champions will also have the opportunity to become volunteers and identify additional ways in which their Corporate Social Responsibility Programme can support the Homeless World Cup to beat homelessness.
