
We had a total of 6 schools taking part, with 35 pupils, singing, reciting and one playing the clarinet, also one choir participating. The audience was around 180. Our judges were Audrey McKirdey and John Mitchell they had a very difficult task in finding the winners

Born in 1927 in Govanhill, Glasgow, John was one of four 3 brothers and 1 sister.
John made his first trip out of the city as an evacuee during the years of the war with his brother Joe where they were housed in one of the local farms in Arran.

At the start of 2009 the Pupil Council of Blacklaw Primary School decided to organise a collection of pencils for the girls of the "Let Us Shine" Academy in Kpandai (Pandeye), Ghana

Following the Christmas Lunch twelve members participated in a wee Grand Match in the Stewartfield Farm. Using one table, six pairs played in two round robin leagues, followed by three games to decide the final standings.

Eight talented pupils from Calderglen High School formed the four teams who entered the East Kilbride heat of the Rotary Young Chef of the Year competition which was held in South Lanarkshire College on 20 November.

A friend of one of our members was travelling through Uganda on their way to Burindi. They had employed a young Ugandan Guide called Emmanuel during their trip and were due to pass fairly close to his home town. As he didn’t get many opportunities to visit his family it was suggested that they could make a detour to call to see them.
